If you’re making a cake, cupcakes, or even cookies that need frosting on top, this is the recipe for you. It’s the perfect icing for almost anything: an easy-to-make, classic vanilla buttercream.
Ingredients:
. 7/8 cups butter (1 3/4 sticks)
. 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
. 1 tbsp vanilla extract
. 2 tbsp milk
Directions:
- Cream the butter on medium-high speed, using a stand or hand mixer for at least 3 minutes, to get it light and creamy.
- Add around half of the powdered sugar, a bit at a time, blending the mixture after each addition.
- Blend in the vanilla extract.
- Add the rest of the powdered sugar, a bit at a time, blending the mixture after each addition.
- Add your milk, and stir.
- Do a taste test and add a bit more powdered sugar, milk, or butter, if needed. This is to guarantee that the consistency and sweetness of the frosting meets your needs, depending on what you’re using it for.
